Helping Tech Parents Bridge the Gap
A free peer-to-peer community where people who've been there help those still finding their way back.
GapKarma was born from a simple observation: thousands of talented tech professionals step away from their careers to raise children, and coming back is one of the hardest things they'll ever do.
The job market doesn't make it easy. Resume gaps trigger automatic rejections. Skills feel stale. Confidence fades. And the people who could help the most — those who've already navigated a comeback — are hard to find.
The Idea
What if the people who've returned from career gaps could directly help those still trying? Not through a corporate program or a paid service, but through genuine peer-to-peer support — matched by country because job markets in India, the US, the UK, and everywhere else are fundamentally different.
A mentor who spent 2 years at home and landed at Stripe can share exactly what worked. A career advisor can help reframe a gap as a strength. Someone at Datadog can refer you internally. That's real help — and it costs nothing but time.
How It Works
Seekers
Tech parents actively looking to return. Browse helpers in your country, ask for mentoring, referrals, or resume help.
Helpers
Professionals who've already returned from a gap. They volunteer time because they know the struggle firsthand.
Mentors
Professional career advisors who specialize in transitions, resume optimization, and interview coaching — for everyone.
The Karma
Every helper and mentor earns karma points for the connections they make. It's not currency — it's recognition. When a seeker lands a job and comes back to help the next person, that's the real karma.
Our Promise
- GapKarma is free. No premium tiers, no paywalls.

Meet the Founder
Jayshri Aher
I started GapKarma after experiencing firsthand how difficult it is to find a job after a career break. The tech job market can feel especially unforgiving when you have a gap on your resume. I wanted to build a community where people going through the same struggle can support each other — because sometimes the best advice comes from someone who's been exactly where you are.
